WARNING BULLETIN No18 - Park home life could be the death of you. PDF Print E-mail

PHRAA personnel know only too well how stress can affect your health; we’re dealing with sufferers on a daily basis; those plagued by nasty park operators with their incessant threats and intimidation. So it came as no surprise to read proof in a recent newspaper article.

It reported on a study by researchers from University College , London , on over 8,000 civil servants. Importantly, it revealed a fact most commonly associated with park home owners in dispute. That those who believed they were being treated unfairly, are more likely to have a heart attack!

This was a study that spanned eleven years. It revealed that ‘ those with a strong sense of injustice were 55% more likely to have serious heart disease.’ It concluded that ‘unfairness can be linked to heart disease because of the anger and humiliation it causes’. It is unlikely that any civil servant would have suffered the same trauma as park homeowners under the fierce regime of an unscrupulous park owner (UPO) so percentages here could be higher.

Coincidentally, the night before compiling this item, I heard of no less than sixteen examples of stress related death and heart problems, from only two sources!  In one case, since a rogue park owner took over in southern England , no fewer than twelve deaths had taken place!  By applying the law of averages over the same period, and under normal circumstances, only three persons would have died. The husband of another caller had experienced a stroke, following recent claims of ‘debt’ from another rogue operator.

This is part of a wider scam, which has been ‘doing the rounds’ for some time. Suddenly, residents are told, in no uncertain terms, that they owe a considerable sum of money, in the latest cases, for electricity.  The park owner claims he ‘didn’t know’ the electricity had gone up. Didn’t know? He pays the bill! (out of your money, don’t forget)  This from people who never ‘forget’ or stop creating ways of charging you extra for “items” they don’t want to show you checkable proof you owe a penny. Obviously, if you haven’t seen a rise in your electricity charges in the past couple of years, either you’re very lucky. Or could be underpaying. But such cases would be extremely rare.

CORRECT DESCRIPTION?  New words appear in the dictionary from time to time. One finds it hard to adequately describe the worst in the industry from the current list. However, “a person afflicted with a personality disorder characterised by a tendency to commit anti-social, and sometimes violent acts, and a failure to feel guilt for such acts” could possibly fit the attitude of certain park operators.  That is the Collins English dictionary definition of a PSYCHOPATH.  Would it not be beneficial for both the perpetrator and victims to go down an entirely different path to seek to resolve the situation?  Every other road leads to a cul-de-sac, does it not?

MORE RIGHTS FOR ANIMALS.  Clearly, it is far easier to get a prosecution for ill treating an animal that it is for the rest of us to be protected from humans showing clear signs of psychopathic tendencies; particularly towards elderly homeowners.  In truth, this governments pandering to the demands of this industry has put our rights back decades.  Are you quite sure you want a park home at the moment?  Many are regretting it to their cost,  up to £30,000 loss as new prices continue to rise….. and that is just for the ‘privilege’ of leaving “affordable housing”.
